Alessio Lisci: “We Deserved More, We Had a Good Performance”

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci addressed the media after his team's 1-1 draw against Real Betis at El Sadar. "I think we deserved more; a draw is bittersweet," Lisci said. "We are happy with the performance. We played a great opponent, but I think we deserved more in some instances. We have a bitter taste because earning only two points between Vitoria and today falls short of what we deserved," he added.

Regarding the match, Lisci said, "Their goal came after two counters—ours first, then theirs. When there are four transitions, it's hard to stop. We did well, but Abde scored while we were changing between Iker Muñoz and Valentin Rosier, and we couldn't stop him. His goal was top-notch: the pass, the control, the dribble. We have to give them credit for that.

Other than that, Betis managed a few transitions in the first half. Our fullbacks sometimes pushed forward too early, and against Betis, you always have to be alert. We made adjustments in the first half, controlled the game better, and that carried into the second half," Lisci said.

"We had a great performance. You always have to keep Betis’ level in mind—they are a very technical team with quick turnarounds. Their wingers moved with ease, and we played a good game overall. In the first half, we did well in transitions but lacked decision-making on the final pass. Against Betis, you have to be vigilant and have players ready to attack. That's why I think we did well despite the challenge. I couldn't have asked for more from the players, so we have to accept the result," Lisci said.
